TMT is the most popular type of reinforced steel bar. The TMT bars of good quality have best strength, high ductility, strong bonding with cement and high corrosion resistance.
Dev Bhoomi TMT bars are made using world class technology to get the best quality. This is the reason its called "Desh ki Jaan".
Features
Bond Strength
The consistent rib pattern of Dev Bhoomi TMT Bars is designed to provide strong bonding with the surrounding concrete.
Enhanced Bend-ability
Dev Bhoomi TMT Bars have superior bending properties. It has the ability to bend around mandrel of lower diameter compared to those specified as per IS: 1786-2008.
Superior Weldability
Dev Bhoomi TMT Bars have comparatively easier weldability because of its lower carbon content. They are weldable without any necessity of pre heating and post heating treatment.
Greater Resistance to Corrosion & High Temperature
Dev Bhoomi TMT Bars are obtained through thermomechanical treatment which results in a thick and consistent tempered martensitic rim. This contributes to better corrosion and fire resilience when compared to other traditional TMT Bars.
Properties
Quenching Stage
As the hot rolled bars are released from the final mill, it is subjected to a water spray cooling treatment. This system uses 'Thermex Technology' which rapidly cools down the surface layer of TMT bars and forms the martensitic rim.
Self Tempering Stage
As the bars leave the quenching stage, the core is still hot as compared to the surface. The heat from the core flows to the surface by conduction causing self tempering of the outer layer and forming a structure called "Tempered Martensite".
Cooling Stage
As the bars leave the tempering stage, they enter the 'atmospheric cooling' process which is done on the cooling bed. Here the abustentic core is turned into ferrite pearlite structure. This final structure consists of a tough outer layer with ductile core.
Process
The initial stages involves reheating steel in Electric Arc Furnace and then rolling it through continuous casting machine which converts the billet into a final shape and size desired.
As the rolled bars leave the final mill, they go through widely accepted additional three stage process to obtain the high quality characteristics. The process consists of:
